It is presumed that the founding of the Church has been in the Middle Ages, however, it has undergone great changes over the centuries and is today a beautiful Alentejo-Manueline Gothic example of popular and rural character.
It is located at the exit of Vila Ruiva on the road to Alvito and is a beautiful building with a two-storey facade, all painted white. It is a building of a single nave, rectangular floor.
The set of fresco painting and the semolina of the Mother Church of Vila Ruiva are datable from several different periods - s. XVI to s. XIX This authentic fresco cathedral owes its construction to the noblemen Pereiras de Melo, Condes de Olivenza and Tentúgal.
We can also find other frescoes in other places of the church, although there are no records, it can be said that this would possibly be completely decorated with mural painting. Recently, mural painting campaigns were discovered in the restoration works of the mural and the building.
The high altar in golden carving of Rocogo taste from the time of D. José I where the image of the patron saint, Our Lady of the Incarnation, is venerated to the center.
Located in the village of Vila Ruiva, it is a building of great artistic interest from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Here we find the oldest example of mural painting called "frescoes" that reached our days in the council of Cuba and also the Lower Alentejo, belonging to the late s. XVI, in the chapel of the Nation of the Rosary.
