Bishops is a short walk from the bus and train stations, and the Olde Worlde shops and streets of the Shambles. Guests can take a picturesque stroll on top of the city walls from Micklegate Bar. The National Rail Museum is an 8-minute walk away, and Castle Museum is also close by. National Railway Museum (2 km / 1.3 miles) - the world's biggest railway museum houses 'The Workshop', 'The Warehouse' and 'The Working Railway', providing a packed visit full of learning and interaction for the family.
York Dungeon (2.2 km / 1.4 miles) - bringing more than 2000 years of history back to life, including a plague exhibit and a vivid re-creation of the murder and mayhem wrought by marauding Vikings.
Jorvik Viking Centre (2.5 km / 1.6 miles) - detailing York's rich Viking past, using hundreds of exhibits. Visitors can even be transported through a reconstruction of the actual Viking-Age streets which stood on the site 1000 years ago.
